Cruciate ligament reconstruction
is a surgical operation that restores the function of a torn or ruptured
ligament creating a stable knee and allowing the patient to return
to sport
and normal
life, and preventing the risk of developing secondary knee damage.
Injuries to the anterior cruciate ligament are more comon than injuries
to the posterior cruciate ligament.
The method used for anterior Cruciate ligament repair / reconstruction
is the patellar tendon graft, and it is referred to as bone-tendon-bone
BTB
graft , which is actually not a repair but a reconstruction, involving
substitution of a new ligament using a part your own patella tendon
, for your torn damaged one.
